Pelangai by-election: Independent candidate's campaign reaches 70 per cent

KUANTAN - Independent candidate for Pelangai state by-election Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli is focusing his campaign on reaching out to young voters before polling day this Saturday.

He said so far, the campaign covered almost 70 per cent and efforts will be intensified to reach out to voters in the next five days.

"Since I have no machinery, I go about campaigning from house to house in every area in the Pelangai state assembly. They were generally positive and gave me full support as an independent candidate.

"With five days left, I will continue to reach out to young voters because the group is considered a determining factor in victory. I also hope that they can accept a young candidate leader like me," he said, today.

Earlier, he met with voters in Agro Chemomoi.

The Pahang Children's Voice Organisation (PSAP) president revealed that throughout the campaign, many complaints had been received including on development issues in the state constituency.

He pointed out that people have been complaining that their needs have not been fulfilled by Barisan Nasional (BN) since it took the seat.

Haslihelmy said the problems laid out were related to road issues, the absence of lights on main roads, individual land applications over 20 years and younger generation RTK land.

"These are among the problems that the BN government had failed to address. However, if I were to be elected, I would not let the voters in Pelangai down," he said.

The Pelangai state by-election will witness a three-cornered battle between Haslihelmy, BN candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Kasim Samat.

On Oct 7, a total of 16,456 voters will cast their ballots in the by-election.
