PPUM unveils series of initiatives to help B40 with breast cancer

KUALA LUMPUR - Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) has unveiled a series of initiatives for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October specifically to help B40 group in Malaysia.

Professor Madya Dr See Mee Hoong, who is also the Pink October 2023: Closing the Care Gap programme chairman said that early detection and support are crucial in the fight against breast cancer.

"To address this, PPUM conducts an annual fundraising programme to assist individuals from the B40 economic group in accessing early diagnosis.

"This initiative has already benefited 50 patients," she said.

In line with their commitment to raising awareness, PPUM is organising a "Women Health Forum" in collaboration with Pink Ribbon Wellness. They will also be hosting the "Pink Gala Amal Dinner" on Nov 25, 2023, with the support of Datuk Seri Shyleena Faridah Hope.

"These events aim to inform patients, survivors, and the wider public about the importance of early detection and support in the fight against breast cancer," Dr See added.
