SHAH ALAM - Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek assured that the standard operating procedure (SOP) for sports facilities maintenance in schools will be improved to prevent accidents.

In this regard, she said the ministry will ensure that the State Education Department (JPN), District Education Office (PPD) and schools were monitoring the entire sports infrastructure and that school fields were safe for students.

"School administrators should always remind students to be vigilant while having activities outside the classroom," she wrote on Facebook today.

Previously, it was reported that an 11-year-old student in Bintulu, Sarawak had died after being hit by a goal post during an extracurricular activity.

In the meantime, Fadhlina expressed her grief and condolences and assured that the ministry through JPN would provide assistance for the victim's family.

"I would also like to assure that the Education Ministry will give full cooperation to the police to assist in the investigation into this tragedy," she added.
