Police waiting for MACC's intel before applying for red notice on Muhyiddin's son-in-law, lawyer

KUALA LUMPUR – Police waiting for information regarding the technical aspects required by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) before applying for the International Police (Interpol) red notice on former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's son-in-law, Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan and lawyer Mansoor Saat.

It was understood that the technical aspects included information on the legal and criminal perspective.

Police Deputy Inspector-General Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said they were waiting for the information before sending the application to Interpol.

“Several technical (information) aspects are needed which we are waiting for in relation to the application.

“When completed only then we would send the official application (to Interpol),” he said in a press conference after the hand-over of Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director duties at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre on Friday.

Back in August, the police agreed to work with the MACC on the case involving 48-year-old Adlan and Mansoor, 69.

The two were required to appear before MACC to aid the investigation into corruption and embezzlement tied to projects related to the registration, recruitment, and biometric storage of foreign workers in a ministry.

They were suspected of fleeing the nation in May.

When asked on the development of the case involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) lawyer Jasmine Loo Ai Swan, Ayob said investigations were done under Section 409 of the Penal Code.

Loo was arrested with her assets valued at RM93.2 million were seized by police.

“The investigation papers were referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further actions,” he said.
