Nullification of PN's GE15 victory in Kemaman: Pas awaits judge's written judgement
NURUL HUDA HUSAINKUALA LUMPUR - Pas will decide whether to appeal against the Kuala Terengganu election court's decision nullifying Perikatan Nasional's (PN) victory in the Kemaman parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) after receiving the full written judgement from the court.
Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the party needed to look at the grounds of the nullification before deciding to file an appeal.
"We want to see what were the judge's findings (on bribery) because the judge said the campaign period constituted bribery but did not name anyone who had committed it.
"So, we want to look at it (judge's written judgement). If the judge did not mention anyone's name, then our candidate could contest," he said during a press conference at the Pas headquarters, here, today.
On Sept 26, election judge Datuk Anselm Charles Fernandis ruled in favour of a petitioner to nullify the victory of Kemaman MP Che Alias Hamid from Pas in GE15.
Fernandis found that there was an element of bribery to the voters during the election campaign at the parliamentary constituency.
The judge said the petitioner who was also a voter, Wan Mohamad Hisham Wan Abdul Jalil has succeeded in proving the bribery allegations.
