Man beaten with cane after family dispute
KLANG - A disagreement between family members was reportedly the cause for an individual to be beaten by a group of men at a car park near a flat at Bandar Botanik Klang here on Sept 14.
South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said he received the report from a man regarding the incident on 6.31pm on the same day.
“The 33-year-old complainant claimed he was beaten by a group of men who used a cane at 1am,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Cha said investigations found the scuffle was due to a misunderstanding between family members when the complainant attended a funeral ceremony at the flat.
“Five individuals hit the complainant and one of the suspects used a cane.
“The incident caused rhe victim to suffer injuries on the head, left hand, ribs and legs,” he said.
He said the police nabbed six local men aged 26 to 65 years old on Sept 15 to aid investigations.
“Checks found two suspects with two prior records. All suspects were released on police bail after investigations were completed,” he said.
Cha said he had opened investigation papers under Section 148 of the Penal Code for the offence of having a weapon.
“Investigative officers have completed the investigation papers and the case has been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
“Based on the statements obtained in police investigations, the Deputy Public Prosecutor gave the orders to charge these four individuals in court soon,” he said.
He said police had previously found a video recording of the incident which had gone viral on social media.
“The public is advised not share video, out of concerns for the local community,” he said
