Trailer carrying formula milk catches fire
HULU SELANGOR - A trailer carrying infant formula milk caught fire at Kilometre 428 of the North-South Expressway near Bukit Beruntung here today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a distress call at about 2.48pm.
"Eight firefighters and officers, along with fire engines from the Bukit Sentosa and Rawang fire stations, were dispatched to the scene.
"Upon arrival at the scene, they found that a Volvo truck was 90 per cent engulfed in flames, but fortunately, there were no casualties," he said in a statement today.
He said initial investigation revealed that the trailer was en route from Shah Alam to Bukit Beruntung.
"The fire was believed to have started from the rear tire of the heavy vehicle before spreading to other parts.
"A 31-year-old man who was also the driver of the trailer managed to escape the fire. The fire was fully under control by 3.30pm," he added.
