Tea for all: Chagee celebrates milestone with halal certificate

Tea beverage brand Chagee Malaysia celebrates its new milestone today, by announcing its halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development in Malaysia (JAKIM) for its five outlets.

Deputy General Manager of Chagee Malaysia Ng Jia Jun expressed his utmost gratitude for gaining the halal certificate, which opens the way for all Malaysians to enjoy the best-selling tea drink in the nation.

"This certification not only signifies recognition but reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering authentic and high-quality tea experience to our customers in Malaysia.

"Our dedication does not stop here, we aim to be halal certified for another 30 outlets by the end of this year," he said at the halal certification announcement and tea appreciation day at one of its outlets in Sunway Pyramid Mall.

Ng further assures that Chagee tea meets the highest standards of halal integrity as well as food safety and operational standards.

"With the halal, certification, tea friends can continue to indulge in their favourite Chagee brews with a refreshed trust and confidence, especially amongst the Muslim community.

"Tea is more than a beverage, it holds a special place in our society. With tea, we aim to unite friends all around the world," he added.

Commenting further, Jakim Senior Assistant Director Mohd Shahril Abd Samat congratulated Chagee on its achievements and hopes that it can retain the halal certification with quality service.

Chagee has been proudly operating since 2019 with 70 outlets across Malaysia serving over 800,000 tea cups monthly.

Chagee Malaysia also aims to open its 300th outlet by 2025, while continuing its efforts in phases to ensure that all its outlets will be halal-certified.

To date, Chagee has sold more than 10 million cups in Malaysia and it is confident to continue this uptrend through its expansion plan to reach out to a wider base of customers.
