IPOH - The Ipoh to Langkawi flight route at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) here has been temporarily suspended.

Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Perak Corridor Development Exco, Loh Sze Yee, stated that the suspension period was initiated by AirAsia and LTSAS itself.

"This route is only temporarily suspended, not terminated.

"However, the resumption of operations for this flight route has not been confirmed yet," he responded to Steven Tiw Tee Siang's (PH-Tronoh) question during the Perak State Legislative Assembly meeting here on Monday.

He mentioned that as for now, the airlines operating at LTSAS are AirAsia and Flyscoot.

"Any route is under the airline companies' jurisdiction in determining the potential for new routes at LTSAS to other destinations or vice versa," he said.

Apart from Langkawi, LTSAS also offers domestic flights to Johor Bahru, as well as international flights from Singapore to Ipoh.

Previously, AirAsia provided Ipoh-Langkawi flights with a frequency of three times a week, on Fridays, Sundays, and Wednesdays.

The first flight departed from LTSAS on Sept 17, 2021, involving 141 passengers, including 23 children, using an Airbus A320 aircraft.
