KUALA TERENGGANU - The four state governments governed by Perikatan Nasional (PN) and the establishment of 'State-Government 4' (SG4) are not for political purposes.

It is instead with the aim to develop these four states, which have always been considered economically lagging behind.

Bersatu information chief, Datuk Razali Idris stated that SG4 was established to consolidate the four states and have a better understanding on how to implement projects in these states.

"SG4 aims to elevate the economic, investment, and socio-economic levels of the rakyat in the four states led by PN.

"This is a bold and extraordinary renewal step. It represents a double economic, investment, and socio-economic innovation for the four states, namely Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, and Perlis, each of which has its own unique attractions and strengths," he said in a statement here.

On Sept 14, the Terengganu chief minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar announced that the four states under the administration of PN have agreed to establish acooperation known as SG4 with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

Ahmad Samsuri added that Mahathir would play an unofficial role, especially in connecting SG4 with foreign investors, such as Japan and South Korea.

Razali further added that SG4 is expected to be the starting point for changing the shallow perception that states governed by a 100 per cent Malay administration are economically backward.

"SG4 is a pure movement under PN, as well as an opportunity to tap into Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad's way of thinking and his wealth of experience, besides tapping into his resources from within and outside the country.

"Only those who are sincere can surely continue in this steadfast struggle," he added.
