MELAKA - The Melaka government is actively enhancing facilities and amenities at Pantai Puteri in preparation for the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024) to attract more tourists and subsequently boost the local economy.

Pantai Kundor assemblyman Tuminah Kadi @ Mohd Hashim said her party had submitted an additional allocation request of RM650,000 to implement beautification projects for the recreational beach.

"This includes the installation of streetlights and the Pantai Puteri landmark, establishing restroom facilities, enhancing pedestrian pathways, vendor locations and other facilities on-site.

"We will also expedite the construction of the wave breaker over a stretch of 2.5 kilometre to address erosion at the beach, which is expected to commence no later than January next year,” she told reporters here today.

Earlier, she attended a gotong-royong programme with parolees and the local community at the Hang Tuah Mausoleum and the vicinity of the Melaka Correctional Institution, with Melaka Prisons director Datuk Roslan Mohamed also present.

In the meantime, Tuminah said her party would also ensure that the area surrounding the Hang Tuah Mausoleum in Tanjung Kling is improved by installing more direction signs and collaborating with the Melaka Museum Corporation for the beautification of the historic site.

"The area around Pantai Puteri is also one of the key locations for achieving the target of 18.7 million tourists to Melaka in conjunction with TMM2024. Therefore, with these upgrading and beautification efforts, it will provide comfort to tourists and indirectly boost the economy of the local community,” she said. - BERNAMA
