Businessman's wife kidnapped over abandoned project
HISYAMUDDIN AYUBKUALA LUMPUR - An incomplete project was the reason behind the kidnapping of the wife of a foreign businessman who was kidnapped in Selangor recently.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said that the woman was abducted by a group of people in the state.
However, he said that through the cooperation of Bukit Aman Police Headquarters, Selangor, and Penang Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), the victim was successfully rescued this week.
"The police had received a report regarding the kidnapping of a family member of a foreign businessman.
"The investigation found that the foreigner was involved in a business transaction, but he had abandoned it midway, causing his wife to be kidnapped," he said at a press conference today.
Shuhaily said that the police could only provide a preliminary disclosure on the success.
He pointed out that further information regarding the crime will be detailed by the Penang Police chief in a press conference tomorrow.
"I was supposed to go to Penang today for a press conference on the success of rescuing the woman on Friday.
"However, due to duty constraints in Bukit Aman, I will not be there, and today, I gave a little preliminary disclosure regarding the case to the media," he noted.
