KUALA LUMPUR - Police will record the statement of Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today over his alleged statement that Malays would lose their powers during the Simpang Jeram by-election campaign in Johor.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain confirmed the matter after contacted by media.

Muhyiddin arrived at the Malaysia Investment Development Authority office at Jalan Sentral here at 9.13am to give his statement.

It was reported that the Federal Police Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT) was investigating Muhyiddin under Section 4(A) of the Election Offences Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

On Sept 3, the Bersatu president was reported to have made a statement with racial sentiments at a Simpang Jeram State Assembly campaign ceramah in Johor.

In his speech, which was shared on Facebook, Muhyiddin allegedly claimed that Malays today would lose their power in government, meaning that Malays had lost power whether they realised it or not.
