Sinar Harian wins Jury Award at MACC's Media Award
PUTRAJAYA - Sinar Harian has won the Jury Award in the Print Media category at the 2022 Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Media Awards on Wednesday.
Sinar Harian, through a report by journalist Muhammad Shamsul Abd Ghani bagged the Jury Award winner for the report titled 'Kontroversi Caj Jenazah' loosely translated as controversy in funeral charges.
He won a trophy, RM1,000 in cash, and a certificate of appreciation.
Meanwhile, the top prize was won by Berita Harian journalist Mohd Abdul Illah Hafiz Abdul Aziz with the report titled 'Pelan Antirasuah Nasional’ (National Anti-Corruption Plan).
Media Prima Berhad's TV3, through the report ‘SPRM, Syarikat Utiliti Gempur Premis Curi Elektrik Lombong Bitcoin’ (MACC, Utility Company Raids Bitcoin Mining Electrical Theft Premises), won the top prize in the electronic media category.
The MACC Media Award is held annually to appreciate and recognise the role of the media in the country.
A total of 15 entries were received by the MACC this year, involving print and electronic media.
Meanwhile, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has expressed his gratitude to the media and congratulated all the winners of the 2022 MACC Media Awards.
"Maintain the pace of excellence and commitment that has been demonstrated thus far, and continue to support the efforts of the MACC in combating corruption for the prosperity of the country and the welfare of the people," he said.
He also called on the media to be responsible with the reports they provide.
"Report corruption issues responsibly to educate the public and expose the dangers of corruption to the nation.
"Convey anti-corruption messages to the readers and viewers. The media needs to work together with the SPRM in the fight against corruption," he said.
