Allocation for the opposition: No specific deadline for application
SHAH ALAM - The government has not set any specific deadline for opposition Member of Parliament (MP) to submit allocation requests for their respective constituencies.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, in a brief response to Sinar, has confirmed that no allocation requests have been made to the government so far.
"Waalaikummussalam, none," he said via the WhatsApp application on Wednesday.
Earlier,Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during a session in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, reminded opposition MPs not to be arrogant and conceited in seeking allocations from the government.
Anwar emphasised that the opposition should negotiate with the government, as was done during the previous administration under former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He also clarified that Fadillah, who is also the Petra Jaya MP, has been assigned to negotiate with opposition representatives regarding allocation distribution.
In addition, three MPs from Perikatan Nasional (PN) have been appointed to hold discussions regarding the amount of allocation that opposition MPs will receive.
The three representatives are opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin; Kota Bharu MP, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan; and Putrajaya MP, Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.
Previously, the government stated as a policy that it was ready to provide allocations to the opposition, but these allocations were limited to administrative-related expenses.
