Marts ready to provide emergency, disaster support service cooperation
MELAKA - The Malaysian Amateur Radio Transmitters' Society (Marts) is ready to cooperate with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) in providing emergency or disaster communication support services if needed.
Marts honourary-secretary Zanirul Akhmal Zanirun said it also includes providing ideas related to the allocation and preservation of the national spectrum if called upon in a discussion or seminar.
"Marts is the only organisation that represents Malaysia at the world level and is recognised by the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU), in addition to always collaborating in various discussions, meetings, exhibitions and also regional amateur radio activities.
"IARU represents three regions that correspond to the regions of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Malaysia is located in the Region 3 country group covering all Asian and Pacific countries," he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Zanirul Akhmal said seven teenagers will represent Marts at the ‘Youngsters On The Air’ camp or Yota 2023 in Pattaya, Thailand from Oct 27 to 29.
He said Yota is an international-level programme organised by IARU that provides opportunities for teenagers aged between 15 and 25 who like amateur radio communication as a hobby.
"Yota is an annual international event organised according to the country group in the IARU region that will take turns to host Yota every year, and this time the camp is organised by IARU Region 3 together with Radio Amateur Society Thailand (RAST).
At the camp, participants are also given the opportunity to use the latest amateur radio communication equipment and technology.
"This includes broadcasting modes such as Digital Mobile Radio (DMR)(1), continuous envelope 4-level frequency modulation (C4FM)(2) and Digital Smart Technology Amateur Radio (D-Star)(3),” he said. - BERNAMA
