KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 6,519 summonses were issued on the second day of the implementation of the "Operasi Hormat Undang-Undang Jalan Raya Polis Kuala Lumpur," yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department Chief Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said the highest number of offences recorded was obstructing traffic, with 4,819 cases.

“Traffic violations on pedestrian lanes or white lines numbered 247, driving without a licence 194, registration numbers 76, disobeying red traffic lights 53, and others 1,213,” he said.

Sarifudin said the operation was carried out in cooperation with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), which also issued 85 summonses.

"Nine motorcycles were also seized during the operation. We also made eight arrests for various offences such as drug-related cases and driving under the influence," he said.

Last Wednesday, the Kuala Lumpur Police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that the second phase of the operation would focus on 16 locations around the capital during its implementation period from Sept 15 to Sept 29.

This stricter enforcement operation will focus on seven types of operations: illegal parking operation, obstruction operation, red light operation, registration number operation, tinted window operation, motorcycle operation, and educational operation.
