Queen receives Hasanah Gold Threads Awards for her love for Pahang weave
KUCHING - Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has received the Hasanah Gold Threads Awards.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Borneo Cultures Museum, here.
The award was given in recognition of the Queen’s deep appreciation for the ‘Tenung Pahang’ (Pahang Weave), a traditional and exclusive woven fabric from the state of Pahang.
The woven fabric estimated to be 300 years old, has placed Pahang Weave in a class of its own in the textile industry in the country.
The award was received by Puan Sri Fatimah Mohd Iskandar, the spouse of Sarawak acting Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar on behalf of the Queen as Her Majesty was unable to attend the ceremony.
Also present were Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, member of the Yayasan Hasanah Board of Trustees Datuk Shahira Bazari, Tanoti co-founder and awards producer for Hasanah Gold Threads Awards Jacqueline Fong, a lecturer in art trivium at the College of Creative Arts, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Irma Murni Ismail and AHPADA secretary-general and Hasanah Gold Threads Awards co-producer Elaine Chan.
The awards was organised by Yayasan Hasanah, a foundation under Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
