MARANG - A saleswoman died after the motorcycle she was riding hit the side of a car at Kilometer 13 Jalan Kuala Terengganu - Kuala Berang, here, on Thursday night.

Marang District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Zain Mat Dris said the victim Nur Ainun Mardhiah Mohd Zainuddin, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Initial investigations found that the accident occurred at about 10.05pm when a Perodua Kelisa driven by a 24-year-old male student on his way to Kuala Terengganu was believed to have sped past a traffic light when the lights turned yellow.

"The motorcycle ridden by Ainun coming from the direction of the traffic lights towards Kampung Alor Limbat hit the right side of the car.

"As a result of the crash, Ainun was thrown in front of a Perodua Viva car which was stationary at the traffic light heading towards Kuala Berang," he said in a statement on Friday.

Zain said as a result of the incident, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He said that the driver of the Perodua Kelisa suffered injuries to his right hand, while the driver of the Perodua Viva did not suffer any injuries.

"The victim was taken to the Forensic Unit of Hulu Terengganu Hospital for post-mortem.
