Dad’s birthday wish for Nurin Jazlin brings netizens to tears
NOR SYAMIRA LIANA NOR ASHAHASHAH ALAM - Even though 16 years have passed, the tragic death of a child named Nurin Jazlin still lies vivid in Malaysians’ memory and her father’s recent birthday wish saddens social media users.
Jazimin Abdul Jalil wrote a birthday message with Nurin’s photo on Facebook last Monday.
The man had expressed that he missed his late child.
“Happy 24th birthday to my child, Kak Ngah. Miss you September 11, 1999, until September 17, 2007,” he wrote.
It turned out that the post had raked in tears from social media users as the girl was killed at just eight.
Numerous Facebook users shared their sadness over the passing and pointed out how difficult the dark history is to forget.
A user Pok Joe commented that the news should not be forgotten.
Meanwhile, @Hafiz Adha said at the time of the incident, he was 15-years-old. According to him, although he was still a child at that point, the heinous tragedy had caused him to burst into tears.
“This case will always be embedded in the memory of Malaysians. Al-Fatihah," wrote another user Irfan Hafiz.
On Aug 20. 2007, Nurin was reportedly missing as she had been kidnapped when she left home alone for a night market in Wangsa Maju.
However, the child did not return causing her siblings and parents to panic.
Her disappearance remained a question until the morning of Sept 17, 2007, when her body was found in a sports bag in Petaling Jaya.
The discovery led to an investigation and the results of the examination revealed that she was raped and murdered.
The rapist and the murderer is still yet to be identified leaving the case unresolved up until today.
