The world’s first cinematic immersive attraction will be slated to launch in the first quarter of 2024 in Malaysia and Singapore by Sim Leisure Group and HavenXR Holdings.

The cinematic venture is fully immersive Location-Based Virtual Reality (LBVR), which will transcend conventional movie-watching into an active and participatory journey where attendees are not just viewers, but integral parts of the movie itself.

Sim Leisure Group is a pioneering Malaysian-born attractions developer and operator, whereas HavenXR Holdings is an Australian-based Hollywood entertainment industry player to usher in a new era of cinematic experiences.

Founder and Executive Chairman of Sim Leisure Group, Datuk Sim Choo Kheng said HavenXR represents the pinnacle of innovation, where technology meets creativity to produce an interactive movie experience that everyone always dreamed about.

“For the very first time with HavenXR, it became a reality and Sim Leisure Group has always stood as a champion of disruptive innovation,” he said.

Sim added that HavenXR’s immersive experience triggers a paradigm shift in movie-going and audience expectations, compelling other industry players to reevaluate their approaches and embrace the endless possibilities of this groundbreaking technology.

“By launching HavenXR here, we are not merely introducing a new form of entertainment. but also putting Malaysia on the global innovation and attractions map,” he added.

Meanwhile, HavenXR co-founder and chief executive officer Tracy Whitelaw said HavenXR’s technological prowess and innovation in virtual and extended reality bring cutting-edge capabilities to the collaboration, enriching these attractions with immersive, next-level digital interactions.

"In a time when virtual reality and extended reality technologies have transformed how people interact with content and entertainment, our partnership with Sim Leisure Group marks a step toward reshaping the very notion of reality,” she said.

Tracy added each experience of this cinematic immersive attraction would be 20 minutes and the first story would launch “The Keeper”.

“The Keeper is a horror genre and we would use the horror idea first and also there would be four people for one hour for this cinematic immersive attraction,” she said.

HavenXR co-founder and director Ben Johnston said that at each level, people would have the opportunity to choose, hence the experience between the individuals would be different.

“Every role is given a different experience, and when they end it, everyone will have a different experience.

“We have chosen horror for the time being and in the meantime we would also work on fantasy and more as well,” he said.
