'I'm waiting for MACC to call, I am not nervous' - Sanusi
YAN - Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor is ready to be summoned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to complete the investigation paper regarding the theft of rare earth elements (REE) in Bukit Enggang, Sik, Kedah.
The Jeneri state assemblyman said he was not afraid, but was willing to testify about the matter.
"I'm waiting for them (MACC) to call. They have not called me yet. I have no problem with MACC.
"Later, they (MACC) will call. I'll go. It's not just this one time. The police call, they call every day (and) there's no issue. (There's) no nervousness whatsoever," he told reporters after the Inauguration Ceremony of the Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK) Padi Benih Project Harvesting Ceremony,here on Wednesday.
He said so when commenting on the MACC report, which stated that he will be called next week at the latest to complete the investigation paper on the issue of REE theft in the state.
On Sept 11, Sinar reported that MACC will summon Muhammad Sanusi regarding the REE theft case within a two week period.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the investigation is in its final stage, but it is necessary to look at several things in the context of the law, system and procedure.
Azam informed that the MACC also looked into several matters pertaining to the REE issue, in addition to investigating corruption and abuse of power.
He said with current the system and procedures, MACC's job is to advise the state government on how to correct the situation.
Previously, the MACC was reported to have obtained new evidence, but was still delayed in its action of summoning Muhammad Sanusi because it wanted to examine the new information received.
