Pekan Umno to focus on aiding Pelangai State Assembly candidate
PEKAN - Pekan Umno will focus on working hard to ensure the BN candidate contesting in the Pelangai seat, Bentong wins the by-election on Oct 7.
Pekan Umno chief Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Ariff said to achieve this goal, the party's machinery preparations were important to aid the BN candidate in representing the unity government.
"I hope all leadership and the machinery will give their full focus and efforts based on the work plan
"Umno will announce the candidate representing BN before the candidate nomination day on Sept 23," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Fakhruddin said Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail have urged for the party machinery to continue to work hard to ensure the Pelangai state seat can be defended by Pahang BN.
He added that the late Datuk Seri Johari Harun's service towards Pelangai was commendable.
"May Allah SWT ease all Umno efforts for the sake of religion, the public, prosperity and stability," he said.
The Bebar Assemblyman informed the Pelangai State Assembly seat covered Pekan Telemong, Mancis, three Felda's P, three fields, four 'kampung Baru Cina' and ten traditional villages including Kampung Simpang Pelangai.
He explained the State Assembly had 16,456 registered voters.
The Pelangai by-election would be held following the death of its incumbent, Johari.
Johari on Aug 17, was among the 10 individuals killed in the tragic aircraft crash in the Guthrie Expressway near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam.
He won the Pelangai state seat in GE15 with a majority of 4,048 votes defeating PN candidate Kasim who gained 3,260 votes, Ahmed Wafiuddin Shamsuri from Pakatan Harapan (PH) (2,031 votes) and Isa Ahmad from Pejuang (65 votes).
