KUALA LUMPUR - DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, describes the suggestion for Umno to contest on its own for the elections without Pakatan Harapan (PH) was simply a statement by Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil.

Loke who was the transport minister said Isham's suggestion was not the official stance from the party.

"That was Isham Jalil's statement, not Umno's, he did not represent Umno, he is only a part of the leadership," he said in a press conference at No 3 KL Kontra Rapid line at the Masjid Jamek LRT KL1937 Bus Stop here on Monday.

Isham was reported stating he never agreed for Umno to contest in the elections with PH.

He stated he agreed with Umno cooperating with PH to form the unity government as ordered by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Isham previously said BN lost 27,000 Malay votes in the Pulai Parliament and Simpang Jeram State assembly by-election last week.
