PH to have a discussion over Muda's decision
SHAH ALAM - The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council will hold a discussion regarding the actions of Muda President Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to withdraw support for the Unity Government.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) central leadership council (MPP) Rodziah Ismail said she was informed about the matter, however she did not want to comment further.
"I was informed that the PH-Unity Presidential Council will discuss this matter.
"So, I can't comment," she said through an conversation in WhatsApp yesterday.
She said this when asked if the PH leadership would take action against Syed Saddiq because he won the Muar parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) on the basis of Muda's alliance with PH.
A day after the Pulai parliamentary seat was won by PH in the recent by-election which took place last Saturday, Muda announced that it would be withdrawing support for the Unity Government.
Following this development, the current Unity Government has the support of 147 members of Parliament, one short of the basic number to obtain a two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
Syed Saddiq explained that notification of the matter had been submitted to the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Johari Abdul through a letter sent on Sunday.
Meanwhile, former Petaling Jaya Selatan Member of Parliament Hee Loy Sian who is also a PKR MPP member thinks that PH has no authority to take any action against Syed Saddiq.
However, the Muar Member of Parliament has to vacate the seat he won.
"He (Syed Saddiq) won on a Muda ticket not PH but for political morals, he should resign.
"This is because Syed Saddiq also won because of support for PH. Therefore, we feel disappointed that this happened," he explained.
