Selangor burglary ring leader arrested: 'Geng Tasha' busted

TANJUNG MALIM - The police successfully toppled housebreaking activities around Muallim district by arresting five individuals, including a woman, in three separate arrests around Selangor last Wednesday and Thursday.

The group known as 'Geng Tasha' led by a 25-year-old woman, has been spotted actively carrying out criminal activities during the day around the state border since last year.

It was reported that the group had allegedly committed the crime in order to finance the trial of a burglary case the suspect was facing at the Sessions Court in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Muallim district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said that with the arrest, the police had successfully solved two break-in cases involving a loss of around RM35,000 in Taman Bernam Baru on Aug 23 and 25.

According to him, three suspects, including the woman involved, were detained at the Shah Alam Court Complex, while the other two suspects were each arrested around Rawang and Sungai Buloh.

"The modus operandi of this gang was that they would survey a residential area for several days before renting a car to break into the victim's house through the back door.

"This group would also relock the door of the house using a new padlock to make it difficult for the victim to enter the house," he said in a press conference at Muallim District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.

According to Hasni, the victim's jewellery was then pawned in several shops around Batu Caves and Jengka, Pahang.

Two cars used by Geng Tasha in burglary activities were seized for further investigation.

"Two Toyota Vios and Perodua Myvi cars used in the criminal activity were seized along with fake vehicle registration numbers and six pieces of pawning receipts.

"The police also found a set of keys, a laptop computer, and equipment such as goat nails, gloves, and others that were used during the incident," he said.

Hasni pointed out that all the suspects, aged 23 to 36, were remanded for eight days until this Thursday for further investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

He added that the police are identifying a man believed to be a gang member known as 'Ah Fai' who is still at large.
