KUALA LUMPUR - Four men were arrested for further investigations into a gang rape case of a woman that also involved her brother-in-law at Section 2, Wangsa Maju on Aug 30.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the four suspects were arrested around Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan.

“The operation carried out by a police team from the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department arrested a man in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur on Sept 7.

“Two suspects were then arrested in Bachok, Kelantan on Sept 8 before another was arrested in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur on Sept 9,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He said the arrest of the four individuals brought the total to five men arrested in connection with the case.

“Cooperation from the public to channel information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the incident is greatly appreciated,” he said.

On Aug 30, a woman was allegedly raped in her home at Wangsa Maju, here, by five men suspected of being her brother-in-law’s friends at about 3.30am.

The action was also reportedly recorded by the suspects.

It was reported that the brother-in-law had allegedly planned the act to pay off his debt.
