Visitors gain deeper understanding of challenges of maintaining order in prisons

SHAH ALAM - "Our top priority is to quickly take control the involved inmates before further action is taken," says the Sungai Buloh Prison Training Unit personnel Inspector Mohamad Zulfahmi Zulkeple.

Earlier, the Control and Prevention Unit (UKP) of the Prison Department's Security and Intelligence Division, based in Sungai Buloh demonstrated their specialised skills at the Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari.

Mohamad explained that the demonstration presented to visitors is one of the measures taken by the Prison Department's Control and Prevention Unit when dealing with tense situations involving inmates.

"We employ several techniques to handle situations of unrest or inmates behaving aggressively.

"Our top priority is to quickly calm and control the involved inmates before further action is taken," he told Sinar Daily.

The ongoing Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari, now on its second day, has seen an even more optimistic atmosphere, with weekend visitors making the most of their time.

With the theme "Advancing Education for the Digital Generation," the event, which runs from 9am to 7pm, witnessed an outstanding response on its first day, attracting school delegations from around the Klang Valley area and even beyond.
