IPOH - A mother and her son suffered minor injuries when the car they were in was hit by a tree in an incident during heavy rain and strong winds at Taman Song Choon near here on Friday.

The Perak Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director, Sayani Saidon, said a team of officers from the Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene after receiving information at around 3:01 in the afternoon.

She mentioned that a 47-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son were inside the vehicle.

"The incident was caused by a tree that fell and hit a moving car.

"The operation commander immediately conducted a risk assessment before directing the firefighters to cut down the tree involved," she said.

Sayani added that the two victims were successfully removed from the vehicle, and an examination revealed that they had suffered minor injuries before being taken to the hospital in a civilian vehicle.

"The operation commander informed the Ipoh City Council (MBI) for assistance in cutting trees, and the operation concluded at 4.49 pm," she said.
