SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Education Department's Education Technology Resource Sector (SSTP) implemented the Apple Teacher Programme for around 70 teachers throughout Selangor on Friday.

The programme that took place in conjunction with Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari at the Karangkraf Media Complex aimed to instill a culture of innovation and technology usage in education by using Apple equipment as well as encouraging teachers to receive an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) certification.

A participant, As’ad Che Cob, when met by Sinar, said the programme would not only expose the usage of iPads but also expose much more knowledge to be absorbed and shared with students.

"Participants were exposed to methods of using an iPad and how to create e-comics, key note-related information, and how we can create comics using a combination of both applications," the Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 18 teacher said.

Another participant, Mohd Syamin Ismail Mohd Sabari, said the knowledge from the programme would be applied effectively to the students in his school.

"Participants were exposed to several new applications, but those applications were preinstalled on our iPads; they were simply not utilised.

"We can apply this through the teaching and facilitation method (PdPc) to further attract the interests of students by having more interactive and interesting materials.

A participant from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Ladang Tuan Mee, Sri Prakash, said the programme was short but filled with information and should be held frequently.

"What I gained today will be used to the best of my abilities for the students’ benefit," the teacher said when met by Sinar.

The education carnival opened its doors today, providing a variety of interesting events from 9am to 7pm.

The three-day carnival, with the cooperation of the Selangor State Education Department, brought together 100 exhibitors, and over 50 activities were provided to visitors at Dataran Karangkraf, Seksyen 15, here on Sunday.
