SHAH ALAM - Teachers using students for social media content will be held liable by the Education Ministry.

Its minister, Fadhlina Sidek, said the ministry will not compromise on any guidelines involving students on social media.

"If the guidelines were not obeyed and a complaint was made, actions could be taken," she said when met by reporters after the Sinar Harian Town Hall with the Education Minister here on Friday.

The media previously reported that parents were worried and lashed out at the actions of certain teachers who used students as content to be uploaded on social media for popularity and personal gain.

The National Parent Teacher Association (PIBGN) Mediation Council reportedly receives at least one complaint a day from parents about their children being made into content for social media.
