Courier delivery man arrested for allegedly raping stepdaughter

AMPANG JAYA - A girl endured her worst nightmare when she was allegedly assaulted and raped by her stepfather three years ago.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the police report was lodged by the 15-year-old victim, who was not in school.

"The victim, who was 13 years old in the first incident, claimed she was raped in January 2020 around 12.30pm while at home with her brother.

"The report stated the victim was approached from behind before she was raped," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the second incident occurred on Aug 28, around 7.30pm while the victim was in the kitchen.

"The suspect in the incident approached the victim and sexually harassed her while she was alone.

"The victim was once again harassed on Aug 30, around 8pm," he said.

He said investigations were carried out, which led to the arrest of the suspect on Thursday.

"The suspect, who was a local man, worked as a courier delivery man.

"The 30-year-old was arrested for further investigations by police officers from the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Department," he said.

Azam said the interrogation done had the suspect raping or harassing the victim, who claimed the victim simply made up the stories.

"The suspect claimed the victim had made up the stories due to how strict he was with the victim.

"However, Ampang Hospital medical officers checked the victim and confirmed that the victim suffered tears on her private parts," he said.

He explained that checks found the suspect to have two prior records.

"The case was investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code," he said.
