Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari: SJKC Serdang Baru 1 wins choir competition
QURRATUL’AINA QUDDUSSHAH ALAM - The mesmerising harmony of voices with attractive facial expressions has successfully made Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Serdang Baru 1, Seri Kembangan as the champion of the primary school choir competition in conjunction with the Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari.
The group’s teacher Ong Zen Kai said he was very satisfied with the achievement of the group of students who gave high commitment throughout the training after school hours.
"I chose the members of this choir by asking about their interests and who wanted to learn to sing. So, I auditioned and gave a voice test.
"As long as I taught them, there were no major problems. The students were committed and they are very good," he said.
The music and English teacher also said apart from focusing on the choir club, excellence in class was not neglected to ensure that students still achieved good results in exams.
"I think in terms of the test results, they are improving because I have already set in order for them to be members of the school choir club, they need to have a good personality and high courtesy.
"We will also have another national level competition next week to represent Selangor," he said.
A total of 10 primary schools participated in the choir competition with second place won by SKJC Puay Chai and third, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Taman Seroja, SK Bandar Sri Damansara at the fourth place and fifth, SK TUDM Subang.
The three-day carnival organised in collaboration with the Selangor State Education Department saw 100 exhibitors and more than 50 activities available for visitors.
The carnival would be held until Sunday at Dataran Karangkraf Seksyen 15 near here.
The carnival is held simultaneously with SinarPlus Makan Fest and Karangkraf Warehouse Sale for visitors to have fun, learn and shop at the same time.
