Gang member involved in burglary arrested

AMPANG JAYA - A man suspected of being a member of a gang allegedly involved in a burglary in Taman Dagang Permai last Wednesday was arrested.

The suspect, who is also a lorry driver, was also found to have been involved in several house burglaries around Ampang previously.

Ampang Jaya district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail, said that a report was made by a victim of a burglary who found that a window in his kitchen had been broken.

"In the incident at about 5.50am, the 27-year-old local male victim also found four designer handbags that were placed in the kitchen had also gone missing.

"The investigation then led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man in a flat unit in Puchong at about 12am on Thursday," he said in a statement today.

He said that an examination of the suspect's body found several tattoos.

"Preliminary investigations found that the suspect is allegedly involved in gangster activities besides having 13 criminal and 12 drug-related records.

"The urine screening test conducted also found the suspect positive for methapatamine," he said.

He added that the suspect targeted residential areas that do not have security control to execute the crime. "The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code and Section 52(3) of the Societies Act 1966," he said.
