'Students thrive at Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari': More events needed, say teachers
SHAH ALAM - Teachers say that education carnivals are very important for students because they give them new experiences and knowledge.
Fadlizah Lattip, a teacher from Sekolah Menengah Sains Banting spoke to Sinar Daily and highlighted how these carnivals provide valuable information about higher education institutions to students.
"We need more education carnivals like this. There are also many booths, which help to inform students about higher institutions.
"There is also 'haunted house' for the participants, which instantly becomes a 'stress-free' programme," she said.
Fadlizah wants the government and organisations to organise more education carnivals because they create opportunities for students to showcase their talents.
Rohana Che Daud, a Malay language teacher from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Petaling Jaya, pointed out that students enthusiastically support events like these.
She highlighted the benefits of the various booths and sections dedicated to primary and secondary schools.
"Taking students out of the school compound for such events makes them happy and excited.
"The students seem to be happy and excited. This is because in school, their mind and activities are only within the school compound, so when we bring the kids out for this kind of event or campaign, they will be so happy," she said.
However, Rohana believes that the three-day Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari isn't long enough.
She suggests extending it because there are many schools in Selangor.
Azlina Aziz, a Pendidikan Moral teacher from Sekolah Kebangsaan Saujana Impian 2, Kajang, encourages schools and parents to bring their kids to education carnivals.
She believes these events can broaden students' knowledge through various activities.
The Karangkraf headquarters in Shah Alam is buzzing with excitement as thousands of school children, students, and teachers participate in Karnival Pendidikan Sinar Bestari.
This is the largest education carnival in Selangor, organised in collaboration with the Selangor State Education Department (JPNS), and it will run for three days (from Sept 8 to 10).
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek will officiate the carnival at 3pm later today.
