SHAH ALAM - Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) is urging the government to convene a special parliamentary session to discuss the High Court's decision to acquit but not discharge (DNAA) Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi from 47 charges of criminal breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering.

AMK Deputy Chief Tyra Hanim Razali stated that a timeframe should also be provided to allow the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) to seek new evidence in the case.

"A retrial should be conducted immediately if the Unity Government's leadership does not want to lose credibility, which will complicate the administration of Malaysia Madani because the prima facie case has been successfully proven by the prosecution.

"We do not deny that the challenge within the mixed Unity Government is substantial, but we cannot lose our identity and decades-long struggle when in power.

"We do not want to continue to be judged by the people now and in the future," she said in a statement today.

She also questioned if there might be a planned conspiracy behind the decision, and the responsible parties should be identified.

In this regard, she said that the explanation from the AGC dated September 5th was also seen as incomplete and raised more questions among the general public.

"AMK also questions the conduct of the Attorney General appointed by Perikatan Nasional Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin since 2020 under his administration, namely Tan Sri Idrus Harun, who is also reported to be on leave while awaiting retirement, while his duties are taken over by the Solicitor General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh.

"The drastic decision to apply for the DNAA of Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar's case was made during this period.

"Previously, Raja Rozela Raja Toran, who was the public prosecutor, had successfully proven the prima facie case, and it was reported that she had applied for early retirement before going on leave at the end of August, before retiring in November.

"However, at the same time, we cannot deny that this situation undermines the image of the Unity Government as a driver of change and reform and reduces the people's confidence in Malaysia Madani, especially amid the storm of the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections," she said.
