MPS demolishes illegal business premises on government reserve land
GOMBAK - The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) demolished illegal business premises built on government reserves in Jalan Gombak here in a concerted operation on Tuesday.
MPS, in a statement, said that the enforcement action was taken after the owner of the building in question defaulted on a warning notice issued by MPS on August 17.
The statement also said a total of 29 MPS members led by enforcement officer Azman Hisyam Kamarudin were involved in the enforcement operation.
"The act of constructing building structures on government reserve land violates the Roads, Drains, and Buildings Act 1974 (ACT 133).
"Strict action was taken based on complaints received at the Selangor People's Complaint Line System (STARS) and residents in the surrounding area," he said in a statement on Wed.
The local authority said that the operation started at 10am and ended two hours later without any obstacles or provocations from the owner of the building structure or the public.
In the same statement, MPS reminds all building owners to always comply with the prescribed laws.
"Owners need to get approval from MPS first before erecting any building structure.
"The move is so that the development carried out does not conflict with the provisions of the law under the MPS administrative area," he said.
