JOHOR BAHRU - The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has the right to reconsider its position on whether to support the Unity government.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that Muda needs to understand the consequences of the steps they are about to take.

"I consider it an expressed reaction, and as a political party, Muda knows the pros and cons of their actions.

"I have no comments because they have the right to act according to their considerations," he said after a campaigning event in Taman Anggerik, Kempas, tonight.

Also present were the Johor PKR deputy chairman Jimmy Puah Wee Tse and PH candidate for the Pulai parliamentary seat Suhaizan Kayat.

Earlier, Muda was reported to have stated that it would not hesitate to reconsider its position in supporting the Unity Government if three demands by the party concerning developments in the case involving Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi were not followed up by the government.

Its president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman regarded the court's decision to acquit Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid on charges of breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering as a major violation of the country's judicial institution's red lines.

On Muda's demand for the Attorney General's Chambers to explain in Parliament the decision to release Zahid without acquittal, Saifuddin Nasution, who is also the Home Affairs Minister, said that the party could propose the matter in the Dewan Rakyat.

"Yes, Muda can propose, present, or not present; that is the decision of the Speaker because the rules of procedure for meetings are made by the Speaker," he said.

Yesterday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court released Zahid from 47 charges of corruption, breach of trust, and money laundering involving funds from the Yayasan Akalbudi.
