KUALA LUMPUR - The police will record former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's statement next Monday to assist the investigation into his haram fatwa remarks towards voting for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate in the Pulai parliamentary by-election.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said that the Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) of Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department had been in contact with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman.

"The recording of Muhyiddin's statement is scheduled at KL Sentral at 10am next Monday.

"Currently, there are two police reports received on the same issue, and one of the reports is classified as a Refer Other Report (ROR)," he said when contacted today.

Previously, the media reported that Muhyiddin stated in his speech that it is 'haram' to vote for the PH candidate at the polls this Saturday.

The Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections are taking place following the unexpected vacancy following the death of its incumbent Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, on July 23.

In another development, Ayob said that an investigation paper has been opened on the 3R issue (religion, race, and royal institution) spoken during the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-election campaigns.

"The investigation paper involved a ceramah by Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, who touched on the issue of the Pardon Board at Pas headquarters in Bakri, Muar, Johor last month.
