KOTA BHARU - Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz describes his duty as a senator in Dewan Negara as the same as his role as a member of parliament before.

The former Bachok and Pasir Mas MP said he is ready to give his full commitment and best service as Dewan Negara member

"Thank you to the state government for proposing me as a member of the Senate this time," he said when met after the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly swearing-in ceremony at Kota Darul Naim on Tuesday.

Earlier, Sinar Harian reported that Nik Abduh was appointed as a senator to represent Kelantan in the Dewan Negara.

The proposal for the appointment of Nik Abduh was submitted by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, and it was supported by his deputy, Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan.

The Speaker of Kelantan State Assembly, Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah, then brought the proposal to get a vote from the State Assembly members.

Kelantan state assemblymen, by majority, accepted the proposal.

Nik Abduh replaces Mohamad Affandi Mohamad, who ends his term as a Dewan Negara member on July 7.

Nik Abduh is the son of the late Pas spiritual adviser, Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz.
