Malaysia committed to a harmonious resolution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict – Zambry
KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia is committed to advocate a long-lasting and harmonious resolution to bring an end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
This has been remarked on by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, elaborating that this country will be aligned to find resolutions with the United Nations.
“In my capacity as Malaysia’s foreign minister, I firmly believe that such an approach will significantly contribute to fostering enduring and sustainable peace in the region,” Zambry said in a video recording played at the launch of the 10th International Islam and Liberty Conference (ILN) at Concorde Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
On top of that, he further added that in line with the policy and ongoing developments, he firmly advocates for pursuing a global society founded on universal principles.
“I am glad to note that Islam & Liberty Network also espouses universal values of freedom while being rooted in the Islamic faith.
“They are religious freedom (freedom of religion and faith, expression and practice); economic freedom (open markets, voluntary exchange, and limited government); and political freedom (liberal democracy and rule of law),” Zambry added.
Prior to this, he admitted that a notable challenge revolved around comprehending and articulating the meanings and contextual relevance of livery and freedom, specifically in a Muslim-majority society.
“It does not mean freedom to do everything, as is commonly misunderstood, but rather it is freedom from coercion and violence,” he stressed.
He also stressed to Malaysians that the essence of liberty lies in the concept of inclusion, where we honoured and embraced all traditions and cultures.
“Liberty also brings responsibility, which should be transformed into a caring and passionate society,” he remarked.
The ILN conference was held from today until tomorrow with the mission to give a thorough understanding of religious, political, economic, peace and prosperity in Muslim-majority countries.
The two-day conference was organised by the Islam and Liberty Network Foundation with the support of the Atlas Network, the Network for a Free Society, and Amanie Advisors in collaboration with Emir Research and Institute for Leadership and Development Studies (LEAD).
