KUALA SELANGOR - A three-year-old boy became a hero after rescuing six family members who were fast asleep during a house fire in Bandar Sri Coalfields here today morning.

The child, who had woken up from sleep, was believed to have alerted the other family members upon realising that the two-story terrace house was on fire.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call at 5.35am.

He said eight firefighters from the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, with the assistance of the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station, rushed to the scene.

"The fire involved a two-story terrace house with 50 percent of the lower room, measuring 10x12 square feet, on fire," he said in a statement today.

Mukhlis said that during the incident, seven people, including the three-year-old child, were in the house.

"There is a bed in the room razed by fire, but there were no occupants inside at the time," he said.

He said that as soon as the firefighters arrived, the fire, which lasted about 30 minutes, was extinguished, and no accidents or loss of life were reported.
