MUAR - Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has issued a fervent call to Malays, urging them to fulfill their civic duty by casting their votes if they wish to safeguard 'Tanah Melayu', a cherished inheritance that has been allegedly eroding over time.

Dr Mahathir argued that the once-vast Tanah Melayu, stretching from Segenting Kra to the Lingga Islands, has diminished considerably, leaving only remnants.

He highlighted the crucial role Malays play in preserving the remaining Tanah Melayu, stressing the need for their active participation in the upcoming elections.

"Malays must go out to vote if they do not want to continue losing the country.

"This is because if that party (Pakatan Harapan (PH)) continues to win, they will give away this Tanah Melayu to others.

"I do not agree to give away the Tanah Melayu to others, this is our land.

"Therefore, do not support PH because they want to give the Tanah Melayu to others," he said.

Dr Mahathir made these remarks while speaking at the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Mega Ceramah in Simpang Jeram yesterday.

Meanwhile Dr Mahathir also expressed sadness when he saw many Malays not coming out to vote.

He said this is quite different from the Chinese community, who usually go out in numbers to fulfill this responsibility (voting).

"Therefore, if you do not want to lose the our land, Malays must go out and vote.

"Show support to the PN candidate so that the Tanah Melayu can continue to be defended," he said.
