Two unemployed men caught with drugs worth RM9,000
TEMERLOH - Two unemployed men were arrested with drugs estimated to be worth more than RM9,000 in a palm oil plantation in Kampung Kenangan, Lanchang, here, on Saturday.
Temerloh district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan, said the 42-year-old and 46-year-old suspects were arrested at about 11am by a team of members of the Temerloh district police headquarters' (IPD) Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, who conducted Op Tapis at the location.
According to him, as a result of the investigation into the suspects, the police found and seized heroin with an estimated total weight of 146.47 grams (RM7,323) and 8.67 grams of syabu (RM1,734).
"Following the arrest of the suspect, who is also unemployed, the police also seized a Honda RSX type motorcycle that was used," he said.
Mazlan said that a record check found that the 42-year-old man had six previous records related to drug cases under Section 39B, Section 12(2), and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952.
"The suspect is also a wanted individual in connection with a drug possession case reported in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.
"The second suspect has five previous records also under Section 39B, Section 12(2), and Section 15(1)(a) of the ADB 1952," he said. He said that the two men were also found to be positive for drugs when they were arrested.
"Following the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of the drug, the police conducted an investigation under Section 39B, Section 39A(1), Section 12(2), and Section 15(1)(a) of the ADB 1952," he said.
