SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) holds a significant role as more than just Umno's partner within the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

It has consistently provided support in working towards a revival and regaining the support of the people, according to BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid stressed that the party also needs to continue serving the people in this country and empower the Unity Government.

"Kimma is not just a party that is Umno's coalition partner in BN; 'Friends of BN', but this is the party that has always supported Umno-BN to keep structuring a revival in order to regain the support of the people.

"This morning, I attended the 44th Kimma General Assembly at the World Trade Centre (WTC), Kuala Lumpur.

"My congratulations to Kimma president Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim for his good service and excellence in leading Kimma all this time," he wrote on Facebook today.

In the meantime, the Umno president pointed that he understands that the assembly will hold an election to choose the leadership for the new term which will determine the party's direction for a period of three years.

"May the election this time take place in an environment filled with brotherhood and togetherness," he said.
