SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) Information Chief Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has congratulated Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the newly elected President of the Republic of Singapore.

In a heartfelt statement, Azmin expressed his joy at witnessing this historic moment where a true statesman has risen above political divides to make significant contributions to his beloved nation.

"As you, Tharman, eloquently stated, 'I enjoy making the long passes...' and humbly continued, 'but I am not a striker,'" Azmin shared.

Azmin, who also serves as an assemblyman for Hulu Kelang, highlighted the deep-rooted history and shared values between Malaysia and Singapore.

"These two neighboring nations have consistently stood by each other, ensuring that their rich history and common values are continually nurtured for the benefit of future generations.

"While our paths may have diverged, the bond between our nations remains unbreakable.

"It is the ability to make these 'long passes' that has not only preserved our relationship but will elevate it to new heights.

"Like any neighbors, occasional disputes and disagreements are inevitable, but history has repeatedly shown that we are steadfast in resolving them through peaceful means, guided by wisdom," he said.
