Police arrest woman for abusing child in kindergarten

JOHOR BAHRU - Police have arrested a local 29-year-old woman to aid investigations of a 44-second viral Facebook video of an individual abusing a boy at a kindergarten.
Seri Alam District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the woman was arrested at a home in Taman Cahaya Masai, Pasir Gudang here on Tuesday.
He said the arrest was made following a police report made by the 28-year-old parent of the boy.
“Early investigations found the victim was a boy around the age of one and the incident occurred on Aug 25, around 3.50pm at a kindergarten in Bandar Bestari Perdana, Pasir Gudang,” he said.
Sohaimi said the suspect was remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for six days starting from Aug 30 to Sept 4.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and if found guilty could be sentenced to prison of not more than 20 years or a fine of not more than RM50,000 or both.
