Time for DAP to admit mistakes, apologise to Malaysians - MCA
FARHANA ABD KADIRSHAH ALAM - It is time for DAP to admit its mistakes and apologise to Malaysians.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said this follows the statement made by Umno leaders asking the party to re-evaluate the Malaysian Malaysia struggle.
He said if the concept was in line with Perikatan (1955) and the Father of Malaysia’s Independence Tunku Abdul Rahman, DAP should elaborate the concept in the context of culture, race and nation.
“My question is whether the Malaysian Malaysia or DAP’s concept of Malaysian Malaysia contributed to the racial tension today?
“This is said to have raised suspicion and tension among Malay communities, primarily regarding DAP’s promises to abolish Bumiputera privileges and quotas,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed on Wednesday while defending his party stated other parties in the unity government must change to be accepted by Malays.
He said a majority of Selangor and Johor Malay voters could not accept DAP’s political ways easily.
Ti Lian went on to say that several declarations made by the party, it was proven as propaganda to incite hatred towards BN.
He said DAP has made several different declarations to abolish the privileges given to Malays and Bumiputeras to join the civil service, to be granted public scholarships as well as admission to public educational institutions in addition to being granted trade licenses.
“If the Malaysian Malaysia was in line with DAP’s promise to abolish Bumiputera quotas and return the usage of English as an official language then it’s time for DAP to admit their mistakes towards the public.
“This is the easiest condition for DAP towards restoring a united and harmonious Malaysian Malaysia that was the dream of all Malaysians,” he said.
