KUALA LUMPUR - The woman who was raped by five men believed to be her brother-in-law's friends last Wednesday was sent to hospital for treatment.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the victim had been referred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) to receive further treatment and examination.

"This case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code.

"The police are asking for the public's cooperation in locating witnesses to help the investigation," he said in a statement.

He asked those with information contact the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) Criminal Investigation Division investigating officer Inspector Siti Fadzilah Ahmad Fisal at 017-6240252 or the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-21159999 or any police station nearby.

"All suspects had fled and the police are trying to trace them," he said.

On Wednesday at 4.52am, the police received a report from a woman saying that she had been raped at 3.30am.

The victim was raped by five men one after another at a house in Wangsa Maju.
