PUTRAJAYA - Five babies were born at the Putrajaya Hospital on National Day, today.

The three girls and two boys were born before 2pm.

At 12.51am, a baby weighing 2.8 kilogrammes was the first to be born today.

Health Ministry food research officer Syahnaz Mohd Azali, 37, said she did not expect that she would deliver her third child on Aug 31.

The mother of three said she was happy and excited to witness the birth of her son on the historic day.

“I was admitted to the hospital on Aug 30 thinking that I would not be able to give birth on Aug 31, but I was fortunate enough to give birth today.

“I will surely remember my son’s birthday on Aug 31,” she told reporters at the Putrajaya Hospital Merdeka Baby Celebration Ceremony.

Putrajaya Hospital director Dr Suraya Amir Hussin said the presence of the children was a historical moment and would not be forgotten.
